Agreement to Terms

Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal information in a few limited ways: when you provide it directly (for example, when you create an account or contact us), when you interact with our social media pages, and automatically from the device or browser you use to access the Service, including through cookies and similar technologies.

Identifiers ‍

We may collect your username, email address, and account password.  

User-generated Content

Messages, pictures, and files are stored ONLY so that recipients can receive them and users can access their message history. Voice, video, and screensharing calls are transmitted in real time. Root does not record or store these calls. User data is not sold to third parties and is not used to train AI models.

Payment Information

We may collect your payment information and associated billing information if you make any purchases on the Service.  

Device Information

Like most online services, we may collect device and network information (e.g., device type, identifiers, IP address, and approximate location) to operate, secure, and improve the Site and App).

Internet Activity

Root collects analytics on the marketing website (rootapp.com) using Google Analytics and inside the app using in‑app analytics. In‑app analytics are limited to feature usage metrics only, such as message counts, community counts, and feature usage, and do not include message content, usernames, or any personally identifiable information. All analytics data is used solely to understand how users interact with the platform and to improve the Service. None of your personal information is sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

We store certain personal information that gets collected automatically at our end through cookies and other similar technologies. A cookie is a small string of information that a website that you visit transfers to your browser for identification purposes.

Strictly Necessary Cookies. These are required for the operation of the Site. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into password-protected portions of the Site.

Analytical/Performance Cookies. These allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors to the Site and understand how such users navigate through the Site.

Functional Cookies. These improve the functional performance of the Site and make it easier for you to use.

Targeting Cookies. Root only sets cookies on its marketing website (rootapp.com), and only after a user consents through the Google Analytics cookie banner.

Personal information and other information may be disclosed in the diligence process with counterparties and others assisting with the transaction and transferred to a successor or affiliate as part of that transaction. To be clear, Root does not sell personal information as a standalone commercial product.

We maintain reasonable physical, administrative, and technical measures designed to protect personal information from loss, misuse, alteration, or unintentional destruction. All data transmitted between users (e.g., mobile apps or browsers) and Root’s backend services is encrypted using industry-standard TLS (Transport Layer Security). However, whenever you provide personal information online there is a risk that third parties may intercept and use that information.

For your convenience, we may link to third-party sites and services, or otherwise display third-party content through our Site and App to provide increased value to our visitors.
